miffy monday

oliver has a color-matching balloon miffy game that he LOVES. it is a really great first board game for toddlers, teaching them how to match colors, take turns, cheer others on, and is generally just super cute. he also has a miffy nightlight chris got him in amsterdam (miffy is dutch) and the book miffy at the zoo. if i could, i would buy him every single miffy item in the world as i just think that has to be the cutest, simplest (in the best sense) bunny out there.

image via mollie makes blog, FREE knitting pattern via knitterbees blog. autumn means knitting season, so i will have to add this adorable knited miffy to my ravelry queue! (at no. 5,627 HA)

hej hej københavn...

after 3 years and 3 months (to the day!) we are saying farewell to life in denmark and starting a new adventure in SAN FRANCISCO!!! chris has gotten a fancy new job at airbnb and we are really excited for this new chapter in our lives. i am especially excited for new creative connections and opportunities...though of course, i am already feeling sad that we have to leave our life and friends behind in copenhagen. so i will just say "jeg allerede savner dig, men vis ses!!!" (i already miss you, but we'll see [you soon]!!!) xxxxx

gettin' things done

it's been craaaaaaazy these past months, with exciting things to come. (NOT a baby! ;) we've been lucky to have a lot of visitors (we get to be temporary denmark/sweden tour guides and i fall in love with where we live all over again!) but now i've been buckling down and tackling my seemingly never-ending to do list. it's so easy to talk about the things i want to accomplish, but i love this reminder that talking isn't the same as doing. i have a few goals i reeeally want to accomplish before i turn 35 next year (!!!) so i'm going to keep on truckin' and gettin' things DONE.

artwork found on society6 here.

hopewell

i have been collecting fabric for years, hoping to sit down and make a quilt (even a tiny teddy bear one would do!) now that i've seen hopewell quilts, perhaps i should purge my fabric stash and buy one of their creations--gorgeous color combinations and unexpected simple, yet eye-catching designs, they're just beautiful. on top of that, they have designed the most amazing cat napkins ever...i think i'd never want to use a plain napkin again!

pizza vs ice cream

my friend liz apple was telling me that her desktop was feeling boring, so instead of working on the 1,256,711 other things i should have been doing instead, i designed this fun wallpaper for her [because she's the cutest] and i thought i'd share with you too! enjoy xx

ban.do fun

one of the happiest companies i follow on instagram is ban.do. not only do they have super fun colorful products, they also have the best branding and vibe. (the verbiage flashing when an image loads on their website includes phrases like "band.do is unicorns" "ban.do is confetti" and "ban.do is best friends" um...LOVE IT. i want every set of their girl talk bobbi pins and even though i already own a cute planner, i feel as if i might need a second planner because i too am very busy. (all images from their happy blog)

here fishy fishy... (and happy belated july!)

we've had record-breaking heat waves in denmark this summer and the beaches have been packed even more than usual. in case you're not near a coast, the august desktop i've designed will bring the fish to you. inspired by vintage scandinavian dishtowels, i've always loved the simplicity of fish artwork...perhaps because i'm a pisces?

also, july was a fun-filled, busy month, filled with my mother visiting, chris traveling to the states (double chocolate milano cookies!) and a fantastic summer holiday to switzerland, france and italy, which was sooo lovely. however, i am now belatedly posting maeve's super adorable seagull artwork, so make sure to download it as well!

hello summer!

summer is nearly here, so maeve and i have both been enjoying the sunshine and visits to the beach. (we are both near the atlantic ocean...though of course, VERY far apart ;)

i am very excited to share our june desktop, designed by yours truly, and my favorite one i did this year. hope your new desktop friend makes you happy and brings a bit of the sea right to your computer!

ps. for those of you just joining, there are still 6 months left in the year! which means you still have plenty of time to print out all of 2014 and redecorate your boring walls, enjoy x

ferm living buttering boards

until we moved to denmark, i had never heard of a buttering board, but with so many options available here, i might just start collecting them! ferm living has just launched several new designs for spring, and the black and white patterns are so much fun. i love the scattered triangles, mimicking their instagram-famous wall stickers and the confetti print is so perfectly simple that i would gladly cover my table, bed and walls with that pattern. (hm, new washi tape project???)

calligraphy

i am going to my first blog conference this weekend, and i am SO excited!!! it will be so much more than just a conglomerate of bloggers, but the chance to meet other creatives, be inspired, learn something new and even speak with people who work at amazing companies i'd love to work at too. one of the courses i will be taking is calligraphy...there has been such an explosion of gorgeous modern lettering in recent years and i am such a fan of snail mail, so i'm really looking forward to dressing up my envelopes or even TO DO lists ;) image via besotted and the conference i'm attending is the hive.

artwork by bebo

we had an irregular mother's day this year, having brunch with non-north-american friends (they celebrated in march!) and oliver had been sick since thursday, so we kept things low-key. but one thing VERY traditionally mother's day, was that i was given my first gifted artwork from bebo...and i LOVE it!!! it is really fun (for me especially!) how much he loves to draw or do projects and i can't wait to hoard loads more artwork from him over the years.

odette new york

i don't wear as much jewelry anymore, especially since having a baby, but i do wear a couple simple gold rings. they are easy to wear without getting in the way and minimal effort makes me feel less mom-ish and a little fancier. i love the jewelry from odette new york especially the dainty rings and bracelets. their pieces are hand-crafted using wax carving techniques so they have great texture and shape. i remember being sooo excited to learn how to carve wax and make jewelry in junior high, but i sadly never even came close to these lovelies.

mother's day prints!

i designed FREE mother's day prints for the flying house blog and i'm sooo excited to share tina's photos, she styled them so prettily!!! and her idea of hanging them up with your favorite kids photos is just so sweet. we met through craftenhagen, which she kindly hosts every month in her beautiful apartment. she is genuinely one of the nicest people, while also being insanely stylish, a fantastic chef/baker, a talented crafter, stylist/photographer and mom. how can one person be so amazing??? make sure to visit her beautiful blog here and download my three designs below (A4 size). i made them non-specific enough that they could adorn your walls for weeks or months ;)
happy early mother's day!!!

you are lovely

maryanne moodie

i feel as if decorative weavings have increased in popularity ten-fold, they are everywhere lately! i don't even care how "mainstream" it may be getting, i love them! so much fun color and texture, like lovely tactile wall art. these pictured above are from the very talented maryanne moodie. (and by no means is she mainstream!)

happy may day!

just in time for the kentucky derby, maeve has designed a wallpaper featuring this darling horse prancing through a meadow of flowers. we have been lucky to have warm (almost hot!) sunny days the past few weeks, but if you are not so fortunate, this design will surely bring a bit of spring to your desktop!

lego design collection

these giant lego storage containers seem to be everywhere lately. (and here in scandinavia, the most popular colors in peoples' homes are white and black, of course ;) i wasn't planning on getting any until i saw their design collection...MINT??? um, yes please. mix in turquoise, soft grey and oh, i don't know, WHITE, and oliver and i might have to go head to head to see who gets to play with them.

april fools

for april, our calendar had the only fictional animal of the bunch--the elusive jackalope! i learned that some of our european followers had never even heard of this creature, someone told me they thought we had just put antlers onto a bunny "just because" haha. since living abroad, it's been interesting learning how so many things that you feel are common, everyday "facts," are completely unknown to other cultures around the world.

widescreen desktop wallpaper (april)

standard desktop wallpaper (april)

ps. did anyone play any good april fools jokes on you? we told our email subscribers that maeve and i would no longer be collaborating together...as if! we are already planning our 2015 calendar, i am really excited. if you'd like to join our email list (and receive reminders about our monthly designs at the beginning of the month!) just let me know.

wooden type puzzles

we have a couple janod puzzles (the zoo one and the alphabet one) and i really like how thick the wooden pieces are. i feel it's easier for a baby to hold the whole piece compared to a small knob on the traditional peg puzzles. though these pieces are probably too advanced for oliver right now on these wooden type puzzles, they are so much fun to look at and have such nice color schemes...i sort of want all three!

like a lion

march this year definitely came in like a [really angry] lion when we were stateside, but luckily when we got back to copenhagen it's been fairly spring-like most of the time. what is the weather like where you are? depending where, march might also be leaving like a lion...but april is just around the corner, so here's hoping more sunny days are ahead! maeve designed this totally ad-roar-able (GET IT??? ;) lion for our march desktops, links below!

à bientôt paris

last year in march i was EXTREMELY lucky enough to be in paris for my birthday. as much as i'd like to go back soon, there are so many places we'd like to visit while we live on this side of the sea that it will be awhile before we return. (unless oliver gets a baby modeling job, then we'd jet off to paris all the time, obv) i love this outfit from atlantic-pacific it's so happy! all she needs is a croissant. le sigh...

don't doubt your dreams

i start a lot of emails and conversations with "oh my gosh, i just thought of the BEST idea!" and my dear friend maeve, who i email about three times a day (YES, i have other friends, but maeve is just one of my favorites and indulges my over zealous communication) is one of those wonderful people who makes me feel like i can achieve any dream, no matter how crazy. i think the biggest obstacle to accomplishing your goals is that tiny twinge of self-doubt you can get, and without a cheerleader friend, it can feel daunting to go for it. so for those days you don't have a maeve in your life, this print i found on pinterest is a really great reminder. available on this website here.

birds of a feather

i designed this flockette of scandi-inspired birds to start off my half of the 2014 calendar collaboration. they are either sitting atop snow or white confetti...depends how mad at mother nature you are this year. (poor minnesota, i heard it snowed there AGAIN this week!) download your preferred size below, enjoy!

lip blam

i change bags like there's no tomorrow, and when i forget to transfer my chapstick (ahem, lip balm) it's all i can think about until i get home. lo and behold, kate spade saturday has made a lip balm holder necklace! if i were to couple this with my pen necklace, all i would need is someone to make a kleenex (tissue) necklace and...jackpot!

ps. i started writing "lip balm" as the title of this post, but my typo of "lip BLAM" is so much better, HA.

hello & hej

i've been really busy lately with multiple projects, but my wish list projects still pop up on my mind every now and again. hello & hej is something i'm working on to as a means to share more of my danish life with friends and family (and you, if you like :) more to come...

ace & jig midi skirt

speaking of black and white, as markdowns continue on ace & jig's FW2013 collection i cannot help but keep checking back on this black pindot midi skirt. i wish i owned swaths (?) and swaths (?) of this fantastic fabric and since i don't, i think this versatile lengthed, pocketed, contrast *elastic* waist skirt is the next best thing.

black & white bunnies

you may have noticed, i LOVE bunnies, and how adorable are these black and white prints??? they have so much personality in their simplicity. screenprinted in the UK and available at archie's boutique.

loopy mango

i like big knitting since it takes less time and is easier to hold, but WHOA loopy mango has the most gigantic knitting ever--it must take about 5 minutes! i both want a blanket this fabulous and also never want a blanket this fabulous, as i would be too worried it would get dirty or snagged and i'd forever hide it off to the corner. however, if someone were to GIVE me one, i would definitely put it to good use ;)
